BC Transit needs your feedback to write their new Victoria Regional Transit Plan! The last version of this plan was published in 2011, so this is an important opportunity to shape what transit looks like in our region for the next 15 years. We are asking transit riders to fill out BC Transit’s survey and ask for improved standards for frequent and reliable buses.
Not sure what to write? Keep on reading for some recommendations on how to provide effective feedback and make your voice heard.
BC Transit is also running open houses! Come and join us at these events to advocate for more and better transit.

What feedback should I give?
The Victoria Regional Transit Plan focuses on broad goals and principles rather than specific routes or areas. When answering this survey, we recommend expressing your support for a transit network that is fast, frequent, and reliable (on-time). Think about the bus routes and trips you take most frequently. If you encounter any of these issues on those trips, let BC Transit know they’re important to you!
- Spending more time waiting for the bus than riding the bus
- Not being able to catch a bus because it’s too early in the day, too late, or a weekend
- Too long or too short waits when connecting between multiple bus routes
- Awkward or uncomfortable connections. For example, not having a sheltered bus stop to wait at or having to walk far between connecting stops
- Trips that take far longer than driving
Because getting buses out of traffic is so vital to making transit faster and more reliable, Better Transit also pushing the need for more transit priority in our region.
Accessibility note: the survey uses technical terms such as "queue jumper lanes" and "signal priority", and we recommend these two videos from TransLink to understand the basics around how transit priority helps BC Transit and riders.
If you find your bus often gets stuck in traffic or slows to a crawl in certain places, the survey is a great place to point this out!
